 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are co-educational schools primarily for the children from rural areas:
  • To provide good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children from the rural areas, Students in the Navodaya Vidyalayas are admitted in VI standard and provided education upto XII standard.
  • To ensure that all students of Navodaya Vidyalayas attain a reasonable level of competency in three languages as envisagated in Three Language Formula.
  • To serve, in each district, as focal point for improvement in the quality of school education in general, through sharing of experiences and facilities.

What We Do:

  • Navodaya Vidyalayas are affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  • Provide free education including boarding and lodging as well as expenses on Uniforms, Text Books, Stationery etc.
  • Provide good quality modern education to the children who are qualified for admission in the Navodaya Vidyalaya through an all India Selection Test in VIth standard upto XIIth standard. In all the participating States & Union Territories of the country.
  • Reservation of seats – Rural at least 75%, Urban utmost 25%.
  • Provide reservation of seats for students from SC/ST categories in proportion to their population in the district subject to the national minimum.
  • Provide reservation of seats for girls – 33%.
  • Establish and run fully residential co-educational schools from Class VI to XII.
  • Extend medical and health facilities to all the students free of cost.
  • Organise Parent Teacher Association and conduct their periodical meetings.
  • Grievance Redressed
  • Through a right to approach Director of Grievances, NVS Headquarters if such grievances are not settled at Vidyalaya and Regional Office level.
